Completely Automatic RODI System (Aquatec Booster Pump + Auto Shut Off Valve)
Let's face it, making RODI water for your reef tank isn't one of the most glorious tasks out there but that doesn't mean it has to be frustrating or cumbersome. Through combining a Aquatec booster pump and Aquatic Life float valve, my system automatically makes more RODI water whenever the water level is low.

How To Upgrade Viparspectra 165w to SB Reef Lights PCB Tutorial
Просмотров 21 тыс.6 лет назад
Just upgraded my Viparspectra 165w to the SB Reef Light PCBs. This was a fairly easy upgrade, however they use a different shape Molex connection so I had to splice my wires and use my old pin connections. It was nerve wracking but simple when using butt splices. In my opinion, Viparspectra definitely seems to be on the "higher end" of the black box spectrum. The color and arrangement of the li...
How to dispose of saltwater with a septic tank

Water changes - we all do them, although the amount and frequency will vary. But what do you do with all that water when you're on a septic tank? There are many questions, unfortunately many of them will remain unanswered. The only thing we can do is the common sense thing.
New YouTube policy hurting small channels, content creators

SB Reef Lights customer service is weak (lost package)
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.6 лет назад
How do you lose a package in your *own* warehouse for 6 days and then not even offer any sort of apology or compensation? After seeing so much positive stuff on SB Reef Lights, I decided to bite the bullet and get their custom PCB boards to upgrade my Viparspectra black box LEDs. Well, my package got lost in their warehouse for 6 days and I barely received an apology from the owner. Despite the...
Why are aquarium channels pushing products and not knowledge
Просмотров 1676 лет назад
Seems like a lot of DIY and educational channels I subscribed to when I was new to the hobby are taking a break from being educational and are trying to capitalize on their RUclips success. I can't hate on someone for trying to make an extra buck, but please don't push your brand on me when I'm just trying to learn new things! Just my two cents.

Great review of the finnex .. i currently have a Fluval plant 3.0 sitting on the top of my 36 gallon - 18" deep planted tank. The first thing that i immediately noticed was the difference in size between the two lights... Your Finnex and the Fluval. The Finnex was physically twice as long as the Fluval. The Fluval's 3.0 is short - half or at most - ¾ the length of the Finnex. I purchased my Fluval plant 3.0 for the 31" top that my tank measured. The light fixture itself is, IMO, insufficient for a fully planted side to side Aquarium. When i saw your review of the finnex, i knew i made the right decision to purchase the Finnex. As for the Fluval plant 3.0, the only plus i can see with this particular light is that you can operate it (fully) from your cellphone. Big deal! Im not sure how the Finnex operates, however, it's physical size spans from edge to edge of the aquarium - not just 3/4 the way like that of the Fluval. I guess the Fluval plant 3.0 is or would be sufficient if you're aquarium was only planted in around the centre of the aquarium.

Is the Fennix the Fugeray planted + ? The description in the video falls short of this .. I also have to agree with you about the Fluval plant 3.0. I too own the same light (and soon - the finnex Fugeray plant+) just wondering if you have decommissioned the Fluval and are using just the Finnex now? Sorry for the crazy questions but I find it extremely difficult to find any kind of reviews on this particular light - online.

Man I’m here searching because I was about to go crazy. I’ve had my rainbow bubble anemone for a week now and have been feeding it damn near every day (mysis shrimp)🦐 Well I just looked in the tank and saw it deflated and a huge white wad hanging and some more coming from it’s mouth. I guess because they have one hole it’s one way in & one way out 😂

I have several large evaporation trays. I collect about 20 gallons of salt water from my tanks each week with the water changes, hold it in 5 gallon buckets till I transfer to the EVAP trays. Easier in the winter when the heat help the evaporation, but it gets the job done. Solid salt is then disposed of in the trash.

It depends on your knowledge of your system. If you know its size and how much water you inject every day, and how much water you plan on throwing in there. Best practice is to have a chat with your septic servicer. Some have a separate service for non septic compatible water. Also, side walk or city storm drains are fine, it's just returning the water back to the ocean anyways. Most municipalities also have a septic pump plant station's where they accept dirty water. IMO, if you are on city drains... down the drain. On a septic, run a hose to the road and have at it. I know a guy that let's it the waste water just run down his driveway. Rain comes and takes care of the rest.

Use vinyl hoses, 90% of the problems come from these fixed setups, a PVC pipe dropping into the sump 🤦‍♂️noise central. Try a few sizes of soft hose, curved into a bend going under the water, adjust within a few seconds, but single durso will always be noisy, better to have two outlets, one full syphon and silent, the other just an emergency
